As of July 22nd, the Showbie-Socrative Integration is no longer available. We are excited to introduce Assessments this August. You can read about Assessments below.
What is Showbie Assessments?
What is Showbie Assessments?
Assessments is a new product offering giving educators easier, streamlined access to structured assessment, embedded all within the Showbie platform.
Inspired by the essential assessment tools educators already know and love, we’ve made formative and summative assessment - and everything in between - a more accessible and seamless part of your everyday pedagogical workflow.
With less setup and app switching, educators can now access the familiar assessment tools they need to create and manage content, launch a variety of assessments, track and share results in the moment, and guide next steps with actionable feedback to every student to progress learning faster and more effectively.
Why did you build Assessments?
Why did you build Assessments?
We know how important it is to have tools to consistently assess student learning, whether those are quick starter activities, tracked retrieval practice, summative assessments or more flexible minute-by-minute formative knowledge checks.
Equally, we’ve heard loud and clear that the Showbie-Socrative integration left a lot to be desired, creating unnecessary barriers for teachers to leverage the potential of Socrative’s quizzing features in Showbie.
Assessments removes barriers to more regular and consistent assessment, the confusion around connecting Rooms, the multi-step setup, multi-account management, and context switching mid-lesson. Consolidating the foundational elements of your pedagogical practice into a single seamless platform means a more streamlined assessment workflow with more flexibility to run multiple assessments at the same time, differentiate assessments, and share management tasks with co-teachers.
It’s now going to be easier to assess more deeply across your entire organisation, to harness the actionable insights you need to support and progress teaching, and monitor the effectiveness of your assessment strategy.
✨ Future Opportunities ✨
In addition to the workflow and pedagogical improvements for educators and school leaders, we’re excited about the foundation that Assessments will provide for deeper insights that we’ll be able to offer on our Admin Analytics platform, as well as the groundwork for innovative AI developments to support content creation and targeted feedback for every learner.
What’s happening to the Showbie-Socrative Integration?
What’s happening to the Showbie-Socrative Integration?
For those who have integrated their Showbie and Socrative accounts, we’re retiring the current integration because all of those essential tools will now be embedded directly into Showbie. Inspired by the Showbie-Socrative integration, the Assessments will look a lot like the integration, but actually goes even further with end-to-end assessment workflows now accessible within Showbie.
Going forward, you’ll have one account, one platform and one consolidated workflow for all your teaching and learning needs. Introducing Assessments, and retiring the Showbie-Socrative Integration, also means no more Socrative Rooms to connect to Showbie Classes, or additional Socrative Rosters to manage, and no more exporting reports back forth between platforms.
If you were using Socrative without the Showbie-Socrative integration, then nothing is changing for your workflow. You can continue to use Socrative with quiz sharing codes and links to engage your learners with a variety of assessments when and where you need them.
Socrative isn’t going anywhere! It will still exist as a standalone product where you can access historical quiz content and reports, launch space races and exit tickets. It will, however, be a distinct platform going forward.
Is Socrative shutting down?
Is Socrative shutting down?
Not at all! Socrative isn’t going anywhere. It will still exist as a standalone product where you can access historical quiz content and reports, launch space races and exit tickets. It will, however, be a distinct platform going forward.
Following the launch of Assessments, content libraries in Socrative and Showbie will be distinct. You’ll want to advise your staff to create any new assessments they want to use in Showbie **in the Assessments workspace.
There will be cross-compatibility, however, so any quizzes that get created in the wrong library can be easily imported into the appropriate library with codes!
What will happen to all my Socrative content?
What will happen to all my Socrative content?
Our team is doing a ton of work behind the scenes to pave the way for Assessments to make this roll-out as seamless as possible for you and your teachers.
We will be migrating folder structures and quiz content in personal and shared libraries in Socrative into Showbie Assessments, so your teams can access those resources from day 1 of this coming school year without any disruption or loss of access to content.
We know you’ve spend a lot of time building precise folder structures in your personal and shared libraries, and populating those spaces with teacher-approved, classroom-ready and curriculum-aligned assessments. Whether you’re a curriculum lead with thousands of prepared assessments across your organisation, a subject or year group team building content for your school, or a teacher only running a few quizzes via the integration, you can rest assured your content will right you need it.
When is the content migration happening?
When is the content migration happening?
While you and your educators are out for the summer, our team will be busy working away migrating library content and structures in Socrative into Showbie Assessments.
We anticipate the planned content migration taking about a month to complete between July 22 and August 22. During this time, the Showbie-Socrative integration will be unavailable. However, both platforms will be independently accessible to use.
We’ve slotted this migration period over the summer break to ensure as minimal disruption as possible and for assessments to be turnkey for your educators when they return to class at the end of the summer.
When your team comes back, all their assessment content will be just as they left it; just accessible in Assessments in Showbie rather than via the integration. Content will also still be available in Socrative.
What if my Socrative content doesn’t get copied into my Assessments libraries?
What if my Socrative content doesn’t get copied into my Assessments libraries?
Our team is doing a ton of work behind the scenes to move all your Socrative folders and content into your new Assessment libraries. In the event of content not migrating properly, please contact our team. We’ll provide guidance on next steps to get your content moved over efficiently so you can get back to teaching.
Is anything required for the content duplication process?
Is anything required for the content duplication process?
If you have integrated Showbie and Socrative accounts, we’ll do all the heavy lifting for you and your team over the summer break.
Note: For the content migration to work successfully, emails associated with both the Showbie and Socrative account must match. To ensure a smooth and seamless content migration, ensure staff have verified and updated the email addresses used for both accounts to ensure they match, prior to the content migration period.
How do I get started using Assessments?
How do I get started using Assessments?
Easy! Just sign-in to the Showbie platform. With all your assessment tools embedded within Showbie, you’ll be able to pick up right where you left off, or - if you’re new to the platform altogether - get started building your assessment library.
Tapping on Assessments from the main menu in Showbie, you’re taken to your Assessments library. If you’ve used our quizzing app, Socrative, you’ll recognize all the same structure and organization functionality here.
You have your personal and shared libraries to create and manage a repository of assessment content, including the use of our three popular AI-assisted features to speed up quiz creation.
In this space, you can also collaborate with colleagues in your subject or year group, or access standardized assessment content provided by your organization.
When your educators are ready to assess, launching an assessment is as easy as heading to the “ + “ icon to add an assessment to any assignment in Showbie - just like you would add a worksheet or piece of teaching material.
From there, your students can begin their assessment and you can sit back and watch the results trickle in real-time.
Key points for users of the previous Showbie-Socrative Integration:
There are no more Socrative Rooms to connect to Showbie Classes.
No connection to manage.
No more multi-account setup and management across platforms.
Rosters in your Socrative Room are the Student List in your Showbie Class.
Can I still access my Socrative account?
Can I still access my Socrative account?
Absolutely! Socrative isn’t going anywhere, but the platforms will no longer be integrated. If you need to access any historical quiz reports, previously created content, or revisit student results, you’ll be able to access those resources in Socrative at any time.
Note: Your Personal and Shared Libraries will be in Socrative and Assessments will be distinct going forward.
Can I still access my Socrative Libraries?
Can I still access my Socrative Libraries?
You bet! Nothing is changing there, but all your content will be also be duplicated into Assessments for you. You’ll still be able to access Socrative as a standalone app, and you’ll still be able to create, manage and share quizzes using codes, but the Libraries will be distinct going forward though.
What if I have a quiz running via the Showbie-Socrative integration right now?
What if I have a quiz running via the Showbie-Socrative integration right now?
The Showbie-Socrative integration will be retired effective July 22. During the transition period to Assessments, any quizzes launched via the integration will be unavailable in Showbie. You’ll want to relaunch quizzes from Socrative directly.
What about past Reports?
What about past Reports?
All past student results and quiz reports will still be stored in your Socrative account. Nothing in there is going anywhere.
Note: for those using the integration, make sure educators share any undistributed reports and grades prior to our content migration and the retirement of the Showbie-Socrative integration by July 22 if you want them to be accessible to students in Showbie.
How do I manage team access in Shared Libraries?
How do I manage team access in Shared Libraries?
Shared Libraries allow users to create and manage their own libraries, fostering collaboration and sharing. Each library is managed independently by its owner.
Users can join the Assessments Shared Library by using unique library codes, provided they have an active Showbie account.
Key Features of Shared Libraries:
User Management: Each library has its own member management system, enabling the owner to control access and permissions.
Membership Limits: Libraries can have up to 1 owner, 100 editors, and 100 viewers.
Ownership Transfer: Owners have the capability to transfer library ownership as needed.
Can I manage Socrative accounts in Showbie now?
Can I manage Socrative accounts in Showbie now?
Nope. Socrative will operate as a standalone product, allowing users to manage their accounts directly through its “Team Management” functionality. This feature enables all teachers within an organization to be part of a Socrative team, facilitating the distribution of both free and paid seats. To access Socrative, teachers must have an Socrative account.
Changes made to team roles and library access in Socrative will not be reflected in Assessments in Showbie. Tools to manage Showbie accounts will continue to be available in the Admin Dashboard.
What features does Assessments include?
What features does Assessments include?
Assessments will include the essential, end-to-end features and functionality you need to engage your learners with a variety of assessment types. You’ll be able to create, manage, launch, monitor, mark and share assessments with learners, then extend that learning with rich feedback tools and teacher insights in Showbie.
Assessments will feature all the Alestion and quiz types previously available via the Showbie-Socrative integration, including our popular AI quiz creation tools and collaborative Shared Library workspaces.
There are a bunch of great new features in Assessments to share:
ability to launch multiple assessments at the same time
ability to differentiate assessments to individuals or groups of students
co-teaching management tools for assessments launched in an assignment
What’s new in Assessments from the old Integration?
What’s new in Assessments from the old Integration?
Content Ownership
In Showbie, assessments are owned by the data controller, which is usually the organization, such as a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT), district, or school. Teachers can only access content that resides in their Personal Library or in a Shared Library where they are either the owner or a member.
Teachers have two avenues for content ownership: the Personal Library, which is private and non-shareable, and the Shared Library, where resources can be shared with any Showbie user. This structure ensures that teachers have the flexibility to manage their resources while also collaborating with others.
Differentiate Assessments
By leveraging the same assignment workflow tools already in Showbie, teachers will be able to differentiate specific assessments to individuals or groups of students depending on their specific learning needs or attendance, just as you could tailor the distribution of any other resource posted in Showbie. Share to everyone, to a selection of learners, or an individual student with ease, and adapt your assessment to unique learning needs and contexts.
Launch Multiple Simultaneous Assessments
With Assessments, you’ll now be able to launch and run more than one assessment at a time in the same class, meaning teachers with multiple subjects in the same year group, or teachers who simply want to run a warm up quiz and a formative and a pre-summative practice quiz in the same class, can do so - all at the same time, without having to rely on workarounds, other apps or limiting their assessment practices to a single quiz at a time.
New Co-teaching Functionality
With Assessments embedded right into the Showbie platform and assignment workflow, Co-teachers providing coverage or with staff shared teaching responsibilities will also now be able to manage assessments launched in an assignment, just like any other piece of work distributed to students, making it easier for them to start, stop, distribute results and support the primary educators in a class while covering or splitting work.
What about analytics in the Admin Dashboard?
What about analytics in the Admin Dashboard?
Admin Analytics, available in the Showbie Admin Dashboard, feature a ‘Socrative’ tab offering a snapshot activity-based metrics related to utilisation of the integration and a snapshot of quizzes launched and completed. This will remain, but will only display Socrative analytics.
With the launch of Assessments, our team is working to refine and implement a range of new data insights and analytics rooted in assessment activity and student engagement aligned to pedagogy. These analytics will be captured and displayed in a new section of the Admin Analytics platform.
We haven’t finalised this piece of the Assessments puzzle yet, and we would love to hear what types of data and analytics you want to see collected, tracked and aggregated, and the types of assessment insights that would be valuable to your school and organisation.

Do I have access to Assessments on my plan?
If you have a Showbie account, you have access to Assessments! This new product offering is available to all Showbie users, across all our plans and packages (including Showbie Complete and Pro Plus).
You don’t need a Socrative account to access to Assessments, either!
