What is a data processing agreement?

A data controller is a organization that determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data. A data processor is an organization that processes the data on behalf of the controller. A data processing agreement is a legal contract between a data controller and a data processor that outlines the terms and conditions under which the processor will handle personal data on behalf of the controller, ensuring compliance with data protection laws.

Showbie acts as a data processor by processing data on behalf of schools and districts, who are data controllers. Below we have provided a selection of data processing agreements for our customers to utilize.

DPA for US Customers

For users in the US, we have provided a National Data Privacy Agreement to meet standard obligations nationwide. It aims to address prevalent student data privacy issues and streamline the contracting processes for Showbie in schools and districts.

DPA for EU/EEA Customers

For users in the EEA, Showbie has created a GDPR DPA which incorporates standard SCCs issued and approved by the EU Commission. This Addendum, along with our Terms of Use, outlines the terms and conditions relating to the privacy, confidentiality, and security of personal data associated with use of Showbie.
