Managing Assignments: Bulk Actions

While in a class, teachers can perform bulk actions on multiple assignments instead of having to change their settings individually.

To start, find the class you need, then :

  1. Click the wrench icon & 'Edit List' (on the Web) Tap Edit (on the iPad app).

  2. In this mode, you can select multiple assignments by tapping on the check boxes to the left of them, or using the 3 line icon to reorder your assignments.

  3. Select the action you'd like to complete: depending on the assignments you have selected, you'll see the options to:

    a.) select ALL assignments

b.) change the student access level to locked, view-only, or editable.

c.) move the assignments into folders or

    d.) archive/restore them.

Renaming an Assignment

You can easily change the name of an assignment.

Start by going into the assignment. Then:

  1. Tap on the Wrench Icon next to the assignment name.

  2. Tap Assignment Settings

  3. Tap on the Name text box, and enter the new name.

  4. Save when done.

Copy an Assignment

Copying an assignment can be useful when you want to use the same materials in different classes, a new semester, etc!

To Copy an Assignment into another Class:

  2. Select the Wrench icon

  3. Select Make a Copy

  5. Select the folder you are copying to (if applicable)

  6. Tap Copy Assignment

*Note: if you have a Socrative quiz in the assignment, this will not be copied over. You will need to launch it again in the copied class.

Moving Assignments into a Folder

Moving assignments into a folder within a class lets you re-organize them, but to do so, you will first need to create at least one folder in your class.

Moving assignments using the iPad App (iOS)

  1. Find the assignment within the class

  2. Tap and hold the assignment until a menu appears

  3. Tap Move Assignment

  4. Select the folder in which you would like to move the assignment

  5. Tap the class name to reveal its folders

  6. Tap a folder to reveal its subfolders (if there are any)

  7. Click Move Assignment to finish

Moving Assignments on the web:

  1. Find the assignment within the class and hover your cursor over the assignment for a few seconds so that the 3-dot icon appears

  2. Click the 3-dot icon

  3. Click Move... in the menu that appears

Folder selection for moving assignment in Showbie Web App

5. Select the folder in which you would like to move the assignment

6. Click the class name to reveal its folders

7. Click a folder to reveal its subfolders (if there are any)

8. Click Move Assignment to finish

Importing Assignments

If you received an assignment link from another teacher, you can follow the link into Showbie so you can import your own copy of the assignment.

Tip: Make sure you're logged into the Showbie app before following the link. If you're not logged in yet, you'll be prompted to sign in first.

Once you follow the link a menu will show, allowing you to select a class:

Select the class you'd like, and tap Import Assignment. You can only select one class to import to.

Reordering Assignments

Assignments can be reordered by due date, name, or by a custom order.

On the iPad app, go to the class you need and tap Edit. If you're on the web, find the Edit List button in the wrench menu instead.

Once there, you'll be able to reorder your assignments. You can sort them in two ways:

1.) Using the reorder handles to sort them manually in a custom order.

2.) Sorting them either by due date, alphabetically or by name (Custom).

Things to note:

  • Class folders have their own separate sort order that's unaffected by the Due date, Name, or Custom order options.

  • Class folders will always be above assignments.
