Whether you're building a quick check-in quiz or editing a full-length exam, this guide will walk you through how to get started with Assessments in Showbie.

Finding Your Assessments Library

Assessments can be created or edited from within your library in your Showbie Teacher account. Once you've logged into your account, there are a couple ways to access your assessments library.

Option 1: Navigation Bar or Side Menu

  1. Click the Assessments icon (checkmark) located on the right side of the top navigation bar or in the left side menu of Showbie. This will open your assessments library.

Option 2: Post to an Assignment within a Class

  1. Open your class in Showbie, then create a new assignment or open an existing one where you want to launch the assessment from.

  2. Select the plus icon (+) in your Shared Items list . Select Assessment.

  3. In the menu that opens, select Add Quiz at the bottom of the quiz list. This will open your full assessment library.

Creating a New Assessment

Once you've navigated to your assessment library in Showbie:

  1. Click Add Quiz in the top right corner of the quiz list.

  2. Add Questions: Showbie supports three question-types. Add a question to your assessment by selecting one of the question type buttons below the existing questions (or below its title if your assessment is empty).

💡 Within your questions, you are able to add basic text styling and add pictures. You can also Insert Math Equations, add pictures into multiple choice answers, and insert embeddable links and videos

Multiple Choice Questions

  • Provide at least two answer options. Type the responses in the answer text fields.

  • To label an answer as correct, click the circle button to the left of the correct answer, a green check will appear.

    • If multiple answers are labelled as correct, students must select all of them to get full credit.

    • If no answers are labelled as correct, this question will not be automatically graded. This is useful for poll type questions that aren't meant to be graded.

True/False Questions

  • Provide a statement that students can either select as True or False.

  • Indicate the correct answer by selecting True or False below the question text.

Short Answer Questions

  • Students are able to type in their answers to short answer questions. Responses can then be manually graded as correct, partially correct, or incorrect.

  • For automatic grading, you can optionally provide one or more correct answers:

    • Students must enter their answer exactly as one that was provided in the quiz editor. Correct answers are spelling sensitive but case insensitive (uppercase/lowercase is marked the same).

    • You can enter multiple variations of the same answer (for example, 2 + 2 = '4' or 'four') for additional flexibility of how students answer.

✍️ Click the checkmark icon when you're done to save the question

Editing an Assessment

Need to change something in your assessment? Navigate to your assessment library and select one to edit it. Then, find the question you want to change and use the icons on the right to:

  • Edit a question (pencil icon): add or edit question details.

  • Delete a question (trash icon): permanently remove the question from this assessment.

  • Reorder questions (arrow icon): moves the question one spot up or down.

  • Duplicate a question (squares icon): create a copy of the question that can be edited as needed.

✍️ The question type cannot be changed after the question is created. If a different question type is needed, you will need to delete the incorrect question and create a new one of the correct type.

Questions can be inserted between other questions by using the Add Question button located in the divider between two questions.

Saving Assessments

When you're done creating or editing your assessment, click Save and Exit in the top right side of the editor to ensure your changes are saved to your library.

🚨 Any changes made to an assessment will only be applied on the next assessment launch. Existing copies of the assessment that have already been launched or assigned previously will not be adjusted.

Organizing your Assessments

You can automatically sort the assessments in your Library by:

  • Date Modified

  • Alphabetical Order

To sort alphabetically, open your Assessment Library and tap the Name header. You can tap between A–Z or Z–A.

To sort by modification date, tap the Modified header to arrange assessments by most recent or oldest modified.
