Showbie's AI features help educators work more efficiently and make smarter instructional decisions, while keeping teachers fully in control. This article gives a high-level overview of where AI appears in Showbie, what each feature does, and where to learn more!

Our Approach to AI in Showbie

When adding AI to Showbie, our focus is on supporting teaching and learning in thoughtful, responsible ways.

  • Pedagogy comes first. AI features are designed to support effective instruction and feedback, not to add technology for its own sake.

  • AI enhances, not replaces, educators. Our goal is to build human-centred tools that help teachers save time, gain insight, and improve feedback quality, while keeping educators firmly in control.

  • Simple, accessible tools for everyone. We aim to create AI features that are easy to use and support equitable learning experiences for all teachers and students.

  • Privacy, safety, and security are foundational. Showbie’s AI features are built with strong data protection practices and use GDPR-compliant sub-processors with industry-recognized security standards.

We continue to monitor evolving AI regulations across regions to ensure that Showbie’s AI features remain safe, compliant, and appropriate for classroom use.

What Showbie AI Helps You Do

Showbie AI is designed to support teachers before, during, and after instruction.

  • Generate high-quality questions faster by creating quiz questions from a topic, subject, or prompt directly within Showbie Assessments. You can even add a document with your question prompt to pull context directly from class materials.

  • Extract questions from files such as quizzes, worksheets, and test banks, converting them into fully formatted Showbie assessments, ready to share with colleagues and students.

  • Improve feedback quality using Feedback Assistant to enhance the comments written in your Feedback Summary.

  • Understand student results more easily with AI Insights that distil completed assessment data into clear patterns, common misconceptions, and next steps.

AI features are optional and always require teacher review before anything is shared with students.

What Showbie AI Does Not Do

Showbie’s approach to AI includes intentional limitations to protect privacy and maintain teacher control.

  • It does not access or store personally identifiable student data. No student names, emails, or IDs are sent to the AI service.

  • It does not automatically publish content to students. Teachers must review and approve all AI-generated output before sharing.

  • It does not replace teacher judgement. AI suggestions should always be reviewed for accuracy and classroom appropriateness.

Showbie AI features are available on eligible plans and may include usage limits.

  • Subscription-based access: AI features such as AI Question Generation, Feedback Assistant, and AI Insights are available to educators on eligible Showbie plans where AI is enabled.

  • Usage limits apply to AI features. Showbie caps the number of AI requests a teacher can make per week for features such as AI Question Generation and Results Insights for Assessments. If you reach the limit, it automatically resets for the next week (on Sundays at 3AM [UTC] for EU and 3AM [EST/UTC-5] for US).

  • Teacher review required: All AI-generated content must be reviewed and approved by teachers before being used or shared with students.

  • Language support: Showbie's AI features work best in English. Results in other languages may vary.

  • Optional use: You can fully use Showbie’s core features for class management, assignments, feedback, and assessments without using any AI features.
