Have students moved on or left your school or district? If so, deactivating their accounts will help keep your school secure and enable you to focus your management efforts on current, active accounts.

Deactivating a student's account removes their access to Showbie, preventing them from signing-in, while leaving their content visible to teachers and parents (unless they are also blocked from classes and groups).

Deactivating an Individual Student

Students can be deactivated from the Students tab in the Admin Dashboard using the 3-dot action menu on the row.

Deactivating Multiple Students

To deactivate students in bulk:

  1. Hover over the student you wish to deactivate, and click the select box that appears over their profile picture

  2. Select any additional students you want to deactivate, or use the select box in the header to select all the students on the current page

  3. The bulk actions bar at the bottom of your screen will tell you how many students you have selected

  4. Click the action menu and select 'Deactivate Members'

Viewing Deactivated Student Accounts

To view deactivated student accounts, adjust the filter beside the search bar to show students who's status is deactivated.

Students can be reactivated at any time, but reactivations can only be done individually using the 3-dot menu on the student row.

  • If a reactivated student had QR code sign-in enabled, this will have to be re-enabled by their teacher.

Deactivated Students In-App

In the Showbie app, deactivated students will be marked with a deactivated badge to identify their status, but will remain in classes in groups unless blocked.

  • If a student is pending approval (not yet approved by a teacher) in a class or group when they are deactivated, their request will automatically be denied.

  • To help ensure the privacy and security of school data in Showbie, accounts that have not been active in the past two years have been deactivated according to our data retention policy.

  • Showbie Admins can reactivate these accounts themselves if necessary through the Admin Dashboard. For any additional inquiries, please reach out to our Support Team.
