Showbie assessments allows teachers to apply consistent grading rules to ensure each student receives a fair, accurate, and up-to-date score based on their participation and performance.
After an assessment has been “Finished”, any teacher in the class can Distribute Scores via the Live results screen or by long pressing on the iPad
Assessment Grading
Showbie Assessments supports one score per student per activity. If a score already exists, it will be replaced by the newly calculated one.
🚨 Clicking “Distribute Score” on an Assessment with existing scores will create a pop-up warning stating that the current scores will be overwritten. You must confirm this action in order to proceed.
When Scores Are Updated:
Scores are assigned or updated based on the most recent score assigned.
A student’s score will be updated if they are included in the activity group (either through “All students” or “Differentiated” assignment).
Assignment Grading Rules:
Students will be assigned a score of 0 if:
The student joined the assessment but did not answer any graded questions correctly.
The student opened the assessment but did not complete any questions (or the few questions they answered were all incorrect) before grades were distributed.
Cumulative Grade:
If the student completed any questions and received a score, assign the cumulative score based on their performance.
If the student was assigned the activity but never opened it, the score will show as unassigned.
If the student was not assigned the activity, leave the grade blank or unchanged.
🚨 An unassigned or blank grade will show as a 'missing grade'.
Saving Grades & Gradebook
Once the grade distribution and all calculated grades are saved, including 0s and blank (unassigned) entries, these grades are stored in the system, even if they are not immediately added to the Gradebook.
Adding to the Gradebook:
You can click “Include in Gradebook”:
The previously saved grades are then added directly to the Gradebook.
No recalculations are made at this stage - grades are pulled exactly as they were saved.
