The Student Experience in Assessments

Learn what students can see and do when completing assessments in Showbie.

Use this guide to preview the student experience before launching an assessment, or share it with students and parents who want to know what to expect when using assessments in Showbie!

Joining an Assessment

To start an assessment in Showbie, students will first need to navigate to the class, folder, and assignment in which the assessment was launched. Assessments will appear as posts from the class teacher with a Start button that students can tap to begin the assessment.

If a timer is enabled by the teacher, students will see how much time they are allotted to complete the assessment.

Completing an Assessment

When taking an assessment in Showbie, students are shown details that help them track their progress throughout the experience. These details may change depending on the type of assessment and which settings were enabled by the teacher.

Quiz Navigation & Progress

In assessments with Open Navigation enabled, students can use the question navigation bar at the top of the screen to move between questions. The navigation bar displays each question by number and question type. Question buttons are also color-coded to show whether a question has been answered, skipped, or not yet opened.

Timed activities will also display a timer with how much time is remaining for the student to complete the quiz.

In-line Feedback

In assessments with Instant Feedback enabled, student responses are provided with in-line feedback that displays immediately after the question is answered. The correct response will be highlighted alongside the student's choice and the teacher's explanation, all in context with the question.

In-line Images

If an assessment question has any associated images, those images are shown side-by-side with the question details. This allows students to reference the image and question details at the same time without the need to switch between views. Students can also zoom-in or full-screen these images for clearer details on more complex diagrams.

Submitting a Quiz

Depending on the quiz or activity type, students can submit their quiz by completing the final question or using the Submit Quiz button.

If students have any uncompleted questions, a prompt will appear to confirm which questions they have skipped. Students can then decide to submit or return to the quiz to complete these questions.

If students have completed all questions, they will instead be prompted to confirm submission or return to the quiz to make changes.

When students submit an assessment, they will be presented with a message confirming they have completed the activity.
