Managing Activities: Bulk Actions
While in a class, teachers can perform bulk actions on multiple activities instead of having to change their settings individually.
To start, find the class you need, then :
Click the Settings Menu "..." & 'Edit List' (on the Web), Tap Edit (on the iPad app).
In this mode, you can select multiple activities by tapping on the check boxes to the left of them, or using the 3-line icon to reorder your activities.
Select the action you'd like to complete: depending on the activities you have selected, you'll see the options to:
a.) select ALL activities
b.) change the student access level to locked, view-only, or editable.
c.) move the activities into folders or
d.) archive/restore them.
Renaming an Activity
You can easily change the name of an activity.
Start by going into the activity. Then:
Tap on the Settings Menu "..." next to the activity name.
Tap Settings.
Tap on the Name text box and enter the new name.
Save when done.
Copy an Activity
Copying an activity can be useful when you want to use the same materials in different classes, a new semester, etc!
To Copy an Activity into another Class:
Go to the activity that you would like to copy.
Click on the Settings Menu "..."
Select Make a Copy.
Choose the destination (where you would like to place the copy).
Select the folder you are copying to (if applicable).
Tap Copy Activity.
*Note: if you have a Socrative quiz in the activity, this will not be copied over. You will need to launch it again in the copied class.
Moving Activities into a Folder
Moving activities into a folder within a class lets you re-organize them, but to do so, you will first need to create at least one folder in your class.
Moving Activities using the iPad App (iOS)
Find the activity within the class.
Tap and hold the activity until a menu appears.
Tap Move Activity.
Select the folder in which you would like to move the activity.
Tap the class name to reveal its folders.
Tap a folder to reveal its subfolders (if there are any).
Click Move Activity to finish.
Moving Activities on the web:
Find the activity within the class and hover your cursor over the activity for a few seconds so that the 3-dot icon appears.
Click the 3-dot icon.
Click Move... in the menu that appears
5. Select the folder in which you would like to move the activity.
6. Click the class name to reveal its folders.
7. Click a folder to reveal its subfolders (if there are any).
8. Click Move Activity to finish.
Importing Activities
If you received an activity link from another teacher, you can follow the link into Showbie so you can import your own copy of the activity.
Tip: Make sure you're logged into the Showbie app before following the link. If you're not logged in yet, you'll be prompted to sign in first.
Once you follow the link a menu will show, allowing you to select a class:
Select the class you'd like, and tap Import Activity. You can only select one class to import to.
Reordering Activities
Activities can be reordered by due date, name, or by a custom order.
On the iPad app, go to the class you need and tap Edit. If you're on the web, find the Edit List button under the Settings Menu "..." instead.
Once there, you'll be able to reorder your activities. You can sort them in two ways:
1.) Using the reorder handles to sort them manually in a custom order.
2.) Sorting them either by due date, alphabetically or by name (Custom).
Things to note:
Class folders have their own separate sort order that's unaffected by the Due date, Name, or Custom order options.
Class folders will always be above activities.
