Showbie provides various methods of giving feedback to students. These include:

  • Creating a voice note or annotation on a student's document

  • Posting comments within a student’s assignment folder

  • Adding feedback to the student’s completed assignment

This article reviews how to use the Feedback Summary to provide personalized comments on submitted, completed assignments from your students.

⭐️ Feedback Summary is available with Showbie Pro and Showbie Complete. Learn more about our included features here: Showbie Plans & Pricing.

How to Use the Feedback Summary

When an assignment is completed or ready to be graded, feedback can be added by any teacher in the class:

  1. Navigate to the assignment in Showbie

  2. Select a student in the assignment’s student list

  3. Select Add Feedback at the top of the student assignment folder

By selecting Add Feedback, the Feedback Summary menu will open. Here, you can provide written comments on the student’s achievements in this assignment or give further context to their grade/assessment.

✨ If your school is subscribed to Showbie Complete and has opted into AI-enabled features, you can also use the Feedback Assistant to improve or revise your written comments.

Adding Feedback within the Document Viewer

The Feedback Summary can also be accessed through the document viewer:

  1. Navigate to and select a document in Showbie.

  2. Select the checkmark icon.

  3. Select the speech-bubble icon.

This will open the Feedback Summary menu within the document viewer so you can quickly provide assignment feedback as you're viewing the student's submission.

Viewing Assignment Feedback

The assignment feedback submitted by teachers is visible at the top of the student's assignment folder. When feedback is submitted to an assignment, a number will show in the parentheses, for example: Feedback (1).

Once feedback is given, select the Feedback (1) button to open the feedback previewer, which will show the teacher's name (who provided the feedback) and when it was submitted. There is also an option to Revise the feedback.

Revising Assignment Feedback

Use the Revise option in the feedback previewer to reopen the Feedback Summary menu. From there, you can rewrite or improve what is currently written.

📝 Showbie currently supports one piece of assignment feedback. This means that inserting revised feedback will overwrite the previous feedback. Additional feedback or comments can be submitted as posts within the student's assignment folder.

Assignment feedback is not currently able to be removed completely from an assignment. As such, If you want to delete a piece of feedback you've previously provided, we recommend revising the feedback with a blank space or a sentence that explains that the feedback was intentionally removed.
