Classes and assignments can be archived and restored as needed. Archiving allows you to temporarily hide previous or unneeded items from all teachers and students in the class. Retaining content in your classes through archiving also allows you to:

  • Easily view & retrieve last year's resources.

  • Copy & share archived content into active classes.

  • Find previous samples of exemplary student work.

  • View & export student grades from archived student work.

When classes are archived, teachers will have view-only access to its contents. This means teachers can make a copy of the class, restore it, delete it, view your students, and view the class overview.

Archiving Classes and Assignments

There are two ways to archive or restore classes and assignments in Showbie. iOS devices can use the swipe method, and all devices can use the settings method.

Swipe Method (iOS only)

Swipe from right to left directly over the class/assignment you’d like to archive and then tap the red button.

Settings Method

  1. Open the class/assignment you’d like to archive.

  2. Tap on the wrench.

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Tap Archive Class/Assignment.

Archived classes can be copied, restored, or deleted. Please note that deleted classes cannot be recovered.

Archived assignments can be copied, shared, restored, or deleted.

Restoring Classes or Assignments

Archived assignments in active classes can be viewed, copied and shared. Archived assignments cannot be modified by teachers or students. If an assignment needs to be modified, it can be restored. Similarly, if you've archived a class or assignment by mistake, it can also be restored.

Note: A class should only be restored if you are actively using it with your students. This is because restored classes will reappear in the accounts of students and teachers that are members in the class.

If you have content in an archived class that you would like to use in an active class, we recommend copying that content from the archived class into the active class:

How to Restore a Class or Assignment

Step 1: Show Archived Items

  1. Navigate to the class or assignment in Showbie.

  2. Select the wrench icon at the top of the list.

  3. Select Show Archived, and scroll down to find the archived items at the bottom of the class or assignment list.

Step 2: Restore the Archived Item

  1. Select the class or assignment you’d like to restore to navigate into it.

  2. Select the wrench icon at the top of the class or assignment.

  3. In the menu that appears, select Settings.

  4. Then select Restore, and the item will reappear alongside your active classes or assignments.

Accessing Archived Assignments

Showbie Pro teachers can have an unlimited number of active assignments in their account. Those archived assignments never expire, and can always be restored. Archived assignments may also be permanently deleted at the teacher’s discretion.

With the free version of Showbie, teachers can have up to 10 active assignments at a given time. Assignments cannot be restored if there are already 10 or more active assignments on that teacher's account. Teachers can archive active assignments at any time to reduce their number of active assignments.

Additionally, archived assignments in the free version of Showbie can be restored for up to 90 days from the time they were archived. After 90 days, archived assignments can be restored by upgrading to Showbie Pro.
